The perfect London wedding celebrations by the Golborne team

The perfect London wedding venues

We are proud to call ourselves London experts. We are recommended planners at a number of iconic venues across the capital including the V&A, Natural History Museum and the National Gallery. We find that a lot of our clients don’t live in the UK but have a love of London and therefore choose this as their location. This is such a great idea as there is an amazing range of venue options and we'd love to design the perfect celebrations for you.

We are based in London and love it through and through. So we thought we’d choose for you, our ideal London formats. To be honest, it’s very hard to shortlist so we could go on and on but these are some of our favourites;

THE TRULY ICONIC LONDON OPTION

Perfect for – those who love art, tradition and London classics.

This wedding format celebrates London icons. It’s very classic, very chic and makes you feel as if you’re truly experiencing the best of the capital.

Rehearsal dinner – Claridge's. Depending on numbers you’d have either the aptly named Mirror Room with it’s mirror covered walls or the fantastic wood lined French Salon. Both are perfect for intimate dinners and then the Ballroom afterwards for drinks and a party. A really lovely option if you’re staying at the hotel.

The Wedding – V&A, South Kensington. We are huge fans of the V&A and it makes for an incredible space for the reception. They can host ceremonies as well – depending on the time of year, in either the gorgeous hidden garden or the stunning Raphael Court. There are a few options for the dinner and dancing depending on your numbers but all spaces are incredible from the majestic Dome to the dramatic deep blue Raphael Court.

The Brunch - Cicoria, Royal Opera House. Continuing with the iconic venues, this is high on the list. Set within bustling Covent Garden yet serenly sat high above the crowds, Cicora, the new Angela Hartnett restaurant is a great option for a brunch to reflect on the celebrations the day before. With a covered terrace and an indoor space, this is a brilliant brunch option.

THE CHIC LONDON OPTION

Perfect for – those who love the grandeur of an incredible venue but the vibes of a cool restaurant.

Rehearsal Dinner – Spring. Set within Somerset House and designed by the late Skye Gyngell, this restaurant space is flooded with natural light whatever the time of year. The food is incredible, the setting is amazing and the look and feel is perfect for starting your wedding celebrations in London.

The Wedding – Kensington Palace Orangery. Newly refurbished and such a chic option for a wedding reception, the Orangery at Kensington Palace is a bright and light yet grand space. Looking out onto the gardens and the palace itself, this is such a wonderful venue for a wedding and party.

Brunch – Kensington Roof Gardens. This is an incredible option for a true hangover brunch, although you’ll most likely find that you’re partying again before long. Kensington Roof Gardens is a well established London spot, set five floors up above the Kensington streets in a secluded oasis. The Winter Garden is perfect come summer or winter and the atmosphere is on point. Whilst they don’t allow weddings, the venue is perfect for a post wedding party.

THE SECRET LONDON OPTION

Perfect for those who adore London but want to avoid the more well known options

The Rehearsal dinner - the Magistrates Ballroom at The Nomad. If you haven’t been to the Nomad hotel, in Covent Garden, you must. Moody, dramatic vibes with a very cool undertone, this venue is great for a space to kick off your weekend. The Magistrates Ballroom is like no other in London with it’s mural painted walls depicting a moody night’s sky.

Wedding - The Wallace Collection (with Reception in Manchester Square Gardens) A complete contrast to the day before and such a hidden gem. The Wallace Collection is set on Manchester Square and has a stunning pink walled courtyard which is glazed, meaning that it’s perfect for any time of year. Beforehand we can use the gardens opposite for the drinks reception – a gorgeous secret garden only accessed with a key. Magical!

Brunch - Flute at the Broadwick, Soho. Brunch venues don’t get more fun than this. The Flute Bar’s maximalist décor is very fun  and the rooftop location makes for the best views. With a brilliant cocktail list, any sore heads will soon be forgotten.

THE TRENDY LONDON OPTION

Perfect for those who love the cooler, more gritty side of London.

Rehearsal Dinner – The NED. Starting the celebrations off in a building filled with history but with a modern makeover. The rooms upstairs have a grand feel to them, perfect for a dinner or drinks. The terraces work well for the summer and for an after party, the bars downstairs play live music until the early hours.

The Wedding Day – Shoreditch Studios. A cool, warehouse space set in East London. This venue is perfect for an all-out party with the ability to fully transform the rooms to your style. A really fun, different and unexpected option.

The Brunch - Shoreditch House. A great option for a relaxed after party, the type that starts as a relaxed brunch and ends with everyone dancing on tables. Such a great way to end a weekend of celebrations.
