A truly magical Christmas wedding
V&A South Kensington
The brief for this December wedding was to capture the magic and essence of Christmas – a time of year the couple both loved. From the red and green colour palette to the little touches such as cracker place names and candy cane cocktails, the whole day felt like the most special festive celebration. The day saw a church service, a toast at a traditional London pub, guests arriving via Routemaster and a party until the early hours at the V&A.

The day saw a church service, a toast at a traditional London pub, guests arriving via Routemaster and a party until the early hours at the V&A.

This gorgeous Christmas wedding started with a traditional ceremony at St Mary's the Boltons. Erin walked down the aisle in a stunning Phillipa Lepley dress with a bouquet featuring deep red, green and pinecones all tied with a velvet ribbon - the first touch of Christmas. Once the couple had tied the knot, they made their way for a traditional pub reception at The Beauchamp. British classics were served alongside champagne and Guinness!
Traditional routemaster buses then transported guests to the V&A for the cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. The couple opted to keep the wedding focussed on British classics and served Gusbourne for their reception, amongst the sculptures of the Hintze Gallery. From here guests took a tour through the museum, ending in the magnificent Raphael Court. As the couple entered the room, the receptioin from guests was one of the most joy filled, exuberant welcomes we have seen. The bride and groom danced their way down between the two long tables before being seated for dinner.
Two long, grand tables were laid in the centre of Raphael Court. The tables were clothed in a heavy cream linen and topped with red placemats, gold edged chargers, a fun spotted water glass and gold cutlery. The deep wood chairs featured a velvet green seat pad completing the Christmas inspired palette. Florals ran down the centre of the tables - red roses, pine cones and textured foliage wove around tall taper candles in deep red and green. On each place setting, a cracker, handmade in a hand printed patterned paper, featured the guests name and contained small gifts.
Following a starter of Cacio e Pepe and a main of Devon Red Beef, guests were each given an eeny weeny espresso martini, topped with a mini candy cane. They then made their way into the Dome for dancing. Here a huge dessert station was laid, cocktails were shaken and a band played until the early hours.
The most wonderful, Christmas inspired and magic filled celebration.
