Our advice for New York couples getting married in London.

We regularly get enquiries from international couples looking to get married in England and specifically a lot of requests from New York couples looking to marry in London. We love these briefs and we adore that the iconic buildings of London are such a huge pull that international couples will travel across the ocean to host their special celebrations within these spaces. Whether it’s an art gallery such as the V&A South Kensington or the National Gallery or a world famous museum such as the National History Museum, we can design an occasion which perfectly represents you as a couple as well as feeling very British with our unique sense of design. Celebrations that we tend to design start with a rehearsal dinner on the arrival day, the wedding ceremony and reception and then an informal brunch to debrief on it all.
We’ve put together our top words of advice for couple looking to marry overseas and celebrate in our wonderful capital city.

Consider the full experience
We have learned over the years of working with inbound couples that the guests experience is paramount – for most this will be a special trip and lots of your guests will turn this into a mini holiday. We design and build a website for your celebrations which has all the information guests will need from travel to dress codes to accommodation. We have a concierge department who head up this process and are available for any guests questions whether it’s ‘Where can I hire a tux?’ to ‘What do I need to think about when it comes to my visa?’. Taking that pressure off you as a couple is key as otherwise you’ll be inundated with questions until the moment you walk down the aisle.
Think about the group as a whole
Working out ways for your group to have lots of time together is really important. A rehearsal dinner and a brunch the day after the wedding are really nice options for everyone to come together and connect. We can manage all accommodation booking as well and negotiate room blocks for guests meaning that your group can stay over a select number of properties which works so well.
Plan to visit
Ensure you have time in your diary to visit at least twice. The first time to select and sign off your venue and the second time for a mini run through of the event. This will involve tastings, venue walk throughs, stationery sample sign off, floral sampling, cake tasting and meetings with key suppliers. We tend to need around two days each time. If you’re looking to get your dress made in the UK you’ll need to allocate additional visits for dress fittings.

London is such a magical city to marry in. The buildings and history are stunning, the atmosphere and culture is electric and the access to unique and talented suppliers means that we can design a truly beautiful occasion you’ll never forget. Choosing to have your wedding outside of your home country can initially feel like a lot, but we’re very used to guiding couples and their families through this process.
We can’t wait to show you everything that London has to offer.
