HOSTING AN EVENT AT THE TATE BRITAIN

As you may know by now, we love a unique London venue. We adore the architecture, the grandeur and all that they stand for. We particularly love galleries as we’re such huge fans of art – it just feels so special to host an event surrounded by priceless masterpieces – what a unique experience. The Tate Britain, sister to the Tate Modern on London’s Southbank, houses British art (as the name would suggest) dating from the 1500’s through to the present day. Sometimes it can be hard to imagine items as old as those dating all the wayback to the 1500’s but to then be sipping champagne alongside them, such a pinch me moment.
The venue has such an elegance to it. The glass Dome, the stunning stone of the Duveens Gallery and the pillars at the entrance. So chic and beautiful and really, relatively unknown. We'd say it's one to keep to yourselves but really we can't help but shout about it.

What’s it like as an event space?
Well, you have choice – from 5 options. The Duveens gallery which you come into as you enter is breath taking in its size and probably our favourite. It has soaring ceilings and truly impressive scale. It was originally built to house sculptures and large pieces of art, which it still does to this day. There are a few months of the year when this space is empty of all but the grand architecture of its bones and it’s then that it’s perfect to use for events with dinners for 500 and receptions of up to 900.
We love a venue that appeals to all tastes, and the TateBritain really does. The Duveens with the pale stone and high ceilings, feels grand and elegant – the perfect space for an elevated champagne reception or beautiful dinner. Then in contrast, Gallery 9 has deep red walls adorned with gold gilt edged masterpieces. With its intricate, curved ceiling the space still benefits from height but definitely feels more intimate. This space is known as the ‘showcase gallery’ and was originally designed to house ‘Art for the Crowds’.

We couldn’t end this piece without a shoutout to the incredible Dome and the beautiful staircase underneath it. We’re such suckers for a majestic dome – who isn’t right? Totally stunning as a building, with an impressive façade – this really is a hidden gem yet only 5 minutes fromWestminster so, as we said before, hidden in plain sight. With a garden refurbishment on its way, it’s also perfect to celebrate these long, hot summer days we’ve been having.
