Behind the scenes of planning a Heckfield Wedding

For the main day, we had two distinct spaces to design – the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. Given the time of year, January, by the time the guests were making their way to dinner, the sun had set and so it was dark outside. As a result, it meant we could achieve such beautiful contrast between the two spaces.
The ceremony, was light filled, soft and almost felt immersive. The guests stepped into a meadow built in front of the floor to ceiling windows of Marle, overlooking the estate. Our inspiration very much came from the Walled Garden where paths weave between beds which are overflowing with soft blooms. The chairs, in a gorgoeus light wood, curved around leaving a weaving aisle. As the couple stood at the front the flowers seemed to envelop them, surrounding them with fresh, soft foliage and florals.
It is a common misconception that the only time of year for soft florals is Spring and Summer. We worked closely with the incredibly talented florists at Lucy Vail Floristry to design this ceremony space and ensure that it felt floral, light and bright. As we moved to the dinner florals, the colour palette we achieved was incredible. Soft and warm with so much incredible texture and depth. It felt so connected to the estate and the grounds and of the season.

When we moved to the design of the wedding breakfast, we really wanted to pull in the warmth of Heckfield as well as all the visual references we had collected from the client. Our look and feel here was very intimate with low lighting, florals which felt very elegant but had a slight wildness to them and strong colours with a big pop of amber all against a neutral base.
To add a little magic into the design we created one long continuous snaked table which wove around the room and between this we built two tall trees, woven through with florals and hanging foliage. Flickering candlelight, table lanterns and tealights allowed another layer to the lighting and overall the setting felt warm, inviting and magical.
