An intimate chef's table
In the kitchen
When we had the opportunity to create a chef’s table, right in the heart of a working kitchen, we jumped at the chance. The setting – an industrial kitchen complete with a full kitchen team working just metres from the table. Sitting within the space, there was just enough room for a table for 12. We designed a long table, with curved ends, to soften the look and allow ample room for the guests sitting for dinner. The event was hosted right at the start of Autumn – it was the perfect chance to celebrate the change in the seasons. Given that the setting was so industrial, we felt creating a huge contrast would be the most striking visual for guests as they arrived and enjoyed the evening.

Within the table design the idea was to capture the softnessof the season alongside the rich colour palette. We leant into the texture withwonderfully detailed florals which ran down the centre of the table. Thecolours of the florals ranged from a pale pink through to a soft red and a deepchocolate brown, mimicking the ranging colour of Autumnal leaves.
We added small details – shiny brown conkers, snails and hedgehog name cards holders and sat the design on a wonderfully deep chocolate linen. To add a touch of light to the design, candlesticks were gold, we added a pale blush taper candle and gold edged plates and scalloped blush placemats. The glassware had a touch of brown which worked perfectly with the overall look and feel, and felt soft against the florals. To finish the look, the chairs, a curved back, woven design sat proudly alongside the table.
Setting the table within the kitchen felt like such a wonderful immersive spot for dinner. The food, served by the chef team at Discreet, mimicked the season with locally sourced produce, created in front of theguests.
