A winter countryside celebration

Heckfield Place

We adored designing and planning a winter wedding set in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, on the exquisite Heckfield Place estate. F&A adore the site and have been visiting for many years, so it felt like a special option for their multi day celebrations. Guests flew in from across the world to be with the couple and they married with the backdrop of the British countryside.

Guests arrived and were greeted with a traditional afternoon tea featuring seasonal flavours and tastes. The celebrations then began with an intimate, family style dinner in Hearth, the venue’s restaurant inspired by open fire, seasonal cooking designed to be shared. This was the perfect setting for a relaxed and informal first night ahead of the big day.

The day of the wedding dawned and guests took part in various activities across the site from full estate tours to yoga and pilates sessions and even clay pigeon shooting. By 3pm the tranquil and calm space in Marle was ready for the couple to wed. The room was filled with a soft winter meadow – textured florals and foliage surrounded the guests creating a special and engaging set up. The couple’s ceremony included a hand fasting ritual, a special and ancient tradition that felt meaningful and personal. Following the ceremony the guests enjoyed a cocktail reception in the house lounges before making the candlelit walk to the wedding breakfast.

As the guests entered the room, they were greeted with a continuous snaked table. The table twisted and turned filing the room. Either side tall trees scaled the walls with branches extending and arching over the tables. The result felt very intimate, special and unexpected. The tables were laid with a beautiful textured linen cloth and whimsical arrangements interspersed with lamps, candles and tealights. The colours within the design picked out the amber of the water glass and napkin and worked well with the tones of the venue and its surroundings.

After dinner, guests moved to the adjoining space which had been transformed into an intimate nightclub. The DJ and accompanying sax played out until the early hours allowing guests to dance the night away.
